Who we are

A small Himachali trekking company

Monk Trails is run out of Shimla by people who grew up in these valleys. We keep group sizes between 8 and 14 so that every trekker gets a leader's attention on the difficult sections.

Every expedition carries a certified trek leader, a full first aid kit with BP machine, thermometer and oximeter, and an emergency oxygen cylinder. Permits, camps, meals and support staff are all included in the trek fee.

We run five routes, from an easy two-day walk to hot springs right up to a nine-day glaciated pass crossing into Spiti. Start wherever your legs are today.

Common Questions

Which trek should I start with?

If you have never camped at altitude, start with Kheerganga (2 days, easy) or Sar Pass (5 days, easy-moderate). Hampta Pass is the natural next step, then Buran Ghati, and finally Pin Parvati Pass.

How big are your groups?

Between 8 and 14 trekkers, with a certified trek leader plus guide, cook and helper. On the Pin Parvati expedition we keep the group even smaller.

Do you provide tents and sleeping bags?

Yes. Tents, sleeping bags, sleeping mats, dining tent, kitchen tent, microspikes when required, safety equipment and a first aid kit are all provided.

Is the trek fee refundable?

The 20% booking amount is non-refundable because it goes towards permits and insurance formalities. The balance is payable at base camp.

Where are you based?

Shimla, Himachal Pradesh. You can reach us on 8580594688 or at hello@monktrails.com, and most of our bookings happen over WhatsApp.
