How to Read an Itinerary

Distances are approximate

GPS tracks vary by a kilometre or two between operators. Treat the numbers as a guide, not a contract.

Walking hours assume a group pace

Timings include short breaks but not long lunch stops. A slower group can add 1–2 hours on a pass day.

Your leader can change the plan

Snow, rain, river levels and group health all override the schedule. Buffer days exist for exactly this reason.

Acclimatisation is not optional

Short days and rest hikes are built in on purpose. Skipping them is the single most common cause of altitude sickness.
